Writing and Oracy
Even though advances in technology are changing the way we learn and interact with the world around us, writing and oracy are life skills that every child will need. Our teaching of writing and oracy reflects these wider technological and societal changes in a cohesive way. Whilst many of the traditional curriculum goals remain, pedagogical methodologies have been incorporated to teach rich content and themes through digital mediums. We also ensure our children are ambitious speakers and writers so that they can fluently share their ideas and emotions with others; key ingredients for making confident communicators and effective collaborators.
The impact of our wrap around Apple ecosystem can be seen in the evidence presented below. Not only can children express their writing with the rich vocabulary and grammar we expect, digitisation supports children to take greater control of their learning. This may be through integrating greater scaffolding, bespoke media which more closely reflects their direct experience or allowing editing without fear of failure. Children can rapidly identify error, amend, redraft their work without negatively affecting the final published piece.
