Academic Network and Professional Practitioner Development
Our integrated approach to digitisation - using the latest Apple technology, products and training - supports practitioners to collaborate and communicate simultaneously in real-time. This effortless synergy and synchronicity is vital in the dynamic profession of teaching. Whether sharing best practise, problem-solving or curriculum planning, our homogenous approach to Apple products ensures that teachers are not tied to a single location. Lessons are not limited to the boundaries of a classroom or where a piece of technology is wired into a wall. As data is safely stored on the iCloud, teachers can engage with each other remotely, present CPD at staff meetings or take their iPad device with them to an external meeting.
As a member of a multi-academy trust, Wayfield Primary School has acted as an exemplar for digital innovation. We’ve spear-headed a wider Digital Transformation Strategy across our Trust and leveraged new and progressive partnerships with Apple Learning Specialists. However, we understand that the devices are but a single component for an effective Apple school ecosystem so we’ve continued to support new schools on their journey with device roll-out, curriculum integration and management of Apple School Manager. We’re always excited to meet with other education professionals, share our experience and extend our growing network. As an Apple Distinguished School, we’ve hosted a range of visits by education commissioners, ministers of parliament and headteachers from across the country.
Extending our Academic Network
As a thriving school of young learners, teachers are provided with a variety of opportunities to extend their own professional development and embody our value of lifelong learning. Our use of Apple technology supports this in two ways. Firstly, staff can pursue Continuing Professional Development (CPD) by using their iPad Pro device to remotely access high quality training. Alongside Apple specific training content and providers, teachers have also undertaken NPQ qualifications to enhance their provision. This freedom and self-directed approach empowers practitioners to utilise their devise in a way which most relevantly impacts their teaching, lesson design or practice. Regularly accessed resources include;
- Apple Worldwide Developers Conference
- Apple Education Series
- Apple Teacher Learning Centre
- Twitter (@AppleEDU and professional accounts of Apple Distinguished Educators)
- The National College
- Ambition Institute
Secondly, teachers at Wayfield Primary School actively contribute to the training of established practitioners and teachers entering the profession. As well as presenting at the Education People Show, teachers have created training their own videos to highlight some of the effective technology, methodologies and pedagogy employed at Wayfield.
